Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). A few years later, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981 she began covering the White House. In 1988, she became head of the congressional reporters. She became chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist and host of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a part of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and arms control. Mitchell traveled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan on numerous occasions for summits, and to discuss topics like the Iran Contra scandal.
